2008 Solar Tour

As part of the tour GSEA will be coordinating visits to 32 locations throughout Georgia -

  • Atlanta and Suburbs - 19 sites
  • Northern Georgia - 1 site (Dahlonega)
  • Central Georgia - 10 sites (Chester, Barnesville, Athens x 3, Lincolnton, Madison, Peachtree City, Fayetteville x 2)
  • Southern Georgia - 2 sites (Savannah, Waycross)

Tour partcipants may visit each site by driving, cycling or public transport. Most sites will have a tour guide who will show you around the property. Visiting hours vary by location. A map showing all the current locations is available. The times the properties are open is given by the following key:- Red 9:00am – 12:00,  Blue 11:00am – 2:00pm,  Yellow 1:00 – 4:00pm, Gold Star: 9.00am - 4:00pm. Note - As Georgia Tech is playing Duke on Saturday 4th Oct, access to the Solar Decathlon building at Georgia Tech is by foot only. Expect heavy traffic in the area.

Following the tour on 4th October there will be a reception at Southface Energy Institute in Eco Office Home Depot Training Center from 4:30-6:30.
John Baumstark, CEO of Suniva - Atlanta's world leader in PV technology, will provide an inspiring keynote address.  Tickets are $25 for GSEA friends and $15 for GSEA members; children under 8 receive free admission.  To purchase tickets visit Solar Reception Tickets.

There continues to be various changes to the properties on the tour and times the properties are open etc. Please check the final status as of 1st October. No more changes will (hopefully!) be made after that date. Current version is Version 5 and is correct as of Sept 29th.
