The Scoop on Solar: The Southeast's Power Journalist Talks IRP
Guest Speaker: Kristi Swartz
Please join us for the 2016 2nd Quarterly Membership Meeting on Thursday, June 23rd, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Kristi Swartz of EnergyWire, the region's most respected writer on energy and utilities, will present an exclusive analysis at this event. Her observations and insight will explore what the current discussions at the Georgia Public Service Commission mean for solar as it looks at the state's energy future. The PSC updates and approves a new energy plan for Georgia every three years. The last update of the Integrated Resources Plan (IRP) made Georgia the fastest-growing solar market in the nation. What will happen to that solar market in the next three years?
Kristi is a reporter with EnergyWire based in Atlanta. She joined the company in 2014 and has written about utility and energy topics in the Southeast, including the region’s transition away from coal to natural gas and the sporadic growth of renewable energy, particularly solar. Other areas of focus include state regulatory policy and nuclear power. Before joining E&E, Kristi was a business reporter at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and covered utilities and energy for The Palm Beach Post. She also worked at newspapers in North Carolina. Kristi graduated from the University of Maryland in 1998 with a degree in journalism.
