SOUTHERN SOLAR SUMMIT EARLY BIRD PRICING EXTENDED
ENDS August 22th
Don't miss this chance for a special rate on the biggest solar policy showcase of the year!
On Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, come to the GTRI Conference Center at 250 14th St, NW, Atlanta, to hear Keynote Speaker Barry Shear, CEO of Eagle Point Solar, tell his story of the two-year legal struggle to provide third-party power in Iowa. His case went all the way to the state supreme court and his victory was hailed nationwide as an important stride forward for solar energy.
| Since founding Eagle Point Solar in Dubuque, Iowa, four years ago, Barry Shear has earned a wide reputation as a vigorous advocate for solar energy. He feels that energy from renewable sources is the Industrial Revolution of the 21st Century. He firmly believes that jobs, economic growth and sustainability can all be accomplished within a framework that works for the public, utilities, and taxpayers.|
Prior to forming Eagle Point Solar, he was part owner and CEO of Help at Home and Oxford Healthcare, a large homecare provider that provided 25 million hours of care with 170 operating units in 13 states and 13,000 employees. Before that, he was a partner in Silverman Consulting, a premier business consulting firm devoted to turning around troubled and underperforming companies throughout the country.
In addition to the keynote address, you’ll get a lot of information about what’s happening in Georgia, too! Ervan Hancock of Georgia Power will discuss the company’s perspective on the state of Georgia’s power generation. A panel moderated by James Marlow of Radiance Solar will highlight the role solar is playing in bringing economic development to rural Georgia. And William Ewing of Barnes & Thornburg will lead a lively discussion panel on what lenders look for in solar investment.
Atlanta Sustainability Director Denise Quarles will address the Summit. Public Service Commissioners Tim Echols, Bubba McDonald, Stan Wise and Chuck Eaton also will offer their insights. Former Public Service Commissioner Bobby Baker, now an attorney with Freeman Mathis & Gary, will moderate a panel of lawmakers, including state Rep. Mike Dudgeon (R-Alpharetta), state Rep. Don Parsons (R-Marietta) and State Senator. Frank Ginn (R-Danielsville), as they discuss the prospects for solar in 2015.
And solar partner Southface will be on hand to update the Summit on efforts to gather information about the economic impact renewable energy is having on the state’s economy.
Don’t delay in getting the best price for the solar showcase everybody will be talking about. Go to www.gasolar.org today and reserve your seat.
