The Georgia Solar Energy Association and Southface will host an exclusive lunch event for their members at Das Haus, the renewable design exhibit at Pemberton Place downtown near the World of Coca-Cola from 12Noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26. Visit Das Haus and join professional colleagues from the fields of architecture, engineering and construction in a tour of the latest market-ready solutions in sustainable building technology and energy efficiency. Das Haus is an integrated, multifaceted structure that applies real-world technologies and solutions from German to meet ultra-low energy building standards. The structure, with its open-air pavilion, is inspired by Germany’s first-place entries in the Solar Decathlon, an international solar house competition coordinated by the U.S. Department of Energy. Guided tours, interactive displays and lectures will be presented at Das Haus from October 19-26. Visitors will learn more about the systems in an experiential, hands-on format including an enclosed room built to Passive House standards with a thin but superinsulated envelope, heat recovery ventilation and cooling, and triple-pane windows that optimize solar heat gain while minimizing loss. The solar energy collection systems that help power the pavilion include state-of-the-art thin film CIS photovoltaics and solar capturing façade elements, which generate power as well as provide additional insulation benefits. Don’t miss this unique international learning opportunity for renewable energy professionals with a special showtime just for GSEA members. Sign up today! RSVP here for this free event.

April 21: Increasing Capacity with Energy Storage

Renewable energy is often intermittent and unreliable, but with the right storage technology, it can become a substitute for baseline power. As funds flow into solar and wind power, and governments around the world make progressively more optimistic commitments to the percentage of national power they will generate from alternative renewable energy, energy storage remains the key to success. Former barriers to the advancement of energy storage technology have dissolved and significant headway has been made. Georgia Solar Energy Association is pleased to present a panel of experts on the advancements in battery and nanotechnology sciences that are making real solar growth a reality.
